Terms and conditions
These terms cover MyYardPro (myyard.pro and the MyYardPro app) and YardWork (yardwork.pro), which are run by the same company ("we", "us"). Part 1 applies to everyone. Part 2 adds rules for homeowners booking work. Part 3 adds rules for pros doing it. By using either site or the app, you agree to them.
Our privacy policy is part of these terms.
Part 1: Everyone
What we are
We connect homeowners who need yard work with local, independent pros who do it. We set standard prices by service and yard size, recommend a pro the homeowner can choose to book (or ask for someone else), and keep both sides informed. We don't do the work, employ the pros, or handle the money. The agreement to do the work is between the homeowner and the pro.
Pros can also use the app to run jobs for customers they already have. On those jobs we're only a tool the pro uses, and Part 3 says what that means.
A recommendation isn't an endorsement or a guarantee of a pro or their work. We recommend pros based on when they can do the job, their ratings and reviews, and how recently they joined, so new pros get some recommendations too. The homeowner decides whether to book the pro, and the pro decides whether to take the job.
Who can use the service
You must be 18 or older. You must give true information and keep it current. You're responsible for everything done through your account, so keep your sign-in to yourself.
Prices, the cap and the final price
Every job shows a price range and a not-to-exceed cap before it's booked. The pro confirms the final price on site. The final price can't go above the cap unless the pro proposes a new price with a reason and the homeowner approves it in the app. If the homeowner declines, the job goes ahead at the top of the original range. We don't take a share of the price.
Payment
The homeowner pays the pro directly, after the work is done, using a payment method the pro accepts. We never hold, send or receive the money, and we aren't a party to the payment. Each payment app or card processor has its own terms and fees between you and them.
We charge homeowners no booking fee today. If we add one, we'll tell you at least 30 days before it starts, it will be in the price you see before you confirm, and it won't apply to a job booked before then.
Cancelling
A homeowner can cancel at no charge any time before the pro is on the way. A pro can decline any job before accepting it and can cancel an accepted job only for a good reason, telling the homeowner as soon as possible. Repeated last-minute cancellations by either side can lead to removal from the service.
Ratings and photos
After a job, each side can rate the other. Ratings must be honest and about the job. A homeowner's rating and written review of a pro are shown publicly on that pro's page, with the reviewer's first name and the month, and we use ratings to recommend pros. The average and count shown include every rating. Staff remove a written review only when it's abusive, off-topic or shares private information, never for being negative, and its rating still counts.
Photos you add to a job may be shown to the other side of that job and used by us to run the service. You keep ownership of your photos and give us a license to use them for that.
What you can't do
Use the service for anything illegal or unsafe. Harass, threaten or discriminate against anyone. Contact the other side of a job for anything but that job, or use their details for anything else, unless you've both chosen to keep in touch. Try to book or take jobs outside the app to avoid these terms. Scrape, copy or interfere with the service.
Keeping in touch
After a paid job with no open problem report, either side can offer in the app to keep in touch. If both of you say yes, you can still see each other's phone number and chat after the job's usual window, and the homeowner appears in the pro's client list. Either of you can end it at any time, and the phones and chat close at once (unless the job's own window is still open). Without both yeses nothing changes: phone numbers and chat close a week after the job is paid. If a pro is removed from the service, every link to them ends.
Problems between a homeowner and a pro
Tell us. We'll help where we reasonably can, including removing someone who breaks these terms, but we don't guarantee the work, the payment, or the people. Claims about the work or the payment are between the homeowner and the pro.
Our liability
The service is provided as is. To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for the work a pro does, for damage to property, for injury, or for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability to you for anything connected with the service is limited to one hundred dollars. Some states don't allow some of these limits, so they may not all apply to you.
Your responsibility to us
If someone brings a claim against us because of something you did through the service or because you broke these terms, you'll cover our reasonable costs.
Ending your account
You can close your account any time by writing to us. We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts anyone at risk, and we'll say why where we can.
Changes to these terms
We'll post changes here with a new version and effective date and tell you in the app or by email before they take effect. Using the service after that means you accept them.
Law and disputes
Tennessee law governs these terms. If we have a dispute, we'll both try to sort it out by talking first. If that fails, it goes to the state or federal courts in Shelby County, Tennessee, and you agree to that venue.
Part 2: Homeowners
Your yard
You confirm you own the property or have the owner's permission for the work. Describe the job and the yard honestly and add photos, since the price depends on them. Make the yard reachable at the agreed time and keep pets and people clear of the work.
Materials
Your pro brings labor and equipment. For mulch jobs you supply the mulch. Anything else you want supplied is agreed with your pro before the job.
Paying your pro
Pay the final price shown in the app, to your pro, after the work is marked done. Pay only through the methods the pro listed. Don't ask a pro to work outside the app at a different price.
Early access and the waitlist
Joining the waitlist doesn't guarantee service in your area or a launch date. We'll contact you once, when we launch near you.
Part 3: Pros
You're independent
You're an independent business, not our employee, agent or partner. You decide which jobs to take, how to do them, and what equipment to use. You're responsible for your own taxes, licenses, permits, insurance and the people who work with you. Nothing here creates a joint venture or an exclusive arrangement; you're free to work for anyone else.
Joining and staying on
You can be recommended to homeowners once you join. We don't check pros before they join. We can remove a pro at any time at our discretion. Keep your profile, service area and payment methods accurate.
Doing the work
Do the work you accepted, at the time agreed, to a professional standard, and leave the yard safe. Mark each step in the app as it happens: on the way, started, done. If the job is bigger than described, propose a new price with a reason before doing extra work; don't do unapproved work and expect to be paid for it.
Getting paid
Customers pay you directly through the methods you listed. We charge you no commission, per-job fee, signup fee or subscription today. If we add a fee, we'll tell you at least 30 days before it starts, and it won't apply to a job booked before then. Any fee a payment app or card processor charges is between you and them. We can't collect a payment for you, but tell us if a customer doesn't pay and we'll act on it, including removing them.
Customers' information
Use the name, address, phone number and photos of a customer we introduced only for that job. Don't keep them afterwards, share them, or contact the customer for other work except through the app, unless you've both chosen to keep in touch.
Customers you add yourself
You can add customers you already have and run their jobs in the app. We call these your own jobs. A later job with a customer you kept in touch with counts as your own too. You can use this as soon as you join. If you're removed from the service, you can still see and download your customers and their jobs, but you can't add new ones.
- We're a tool, not a marketplace. On your own jobs we don't set, cap or guarantee the price, recommend you, step in when something goes wrong, or handle disputes, refunds or payment. Ratings, price caps and problem reports don't apply. The work, the price and the payment are between you and your customer.
- You're responsible for your customers. That includes every message you send them, by text from your own phone, by email or any other way. Have their permission before you text them, and stop when they ask.
- You have the right to add them. Each time you save a customer, however you add them, you confirm that you already work for that person (they're your customer, or they asked you for a quote) and that you have the right to give us their details. Add only what you need to do the work.
- We look after their details for you. We don't contact or market to the people you add, and no other pro sees them. Our privacy policy says how we hold them and when we delete them.
- No per-job fee. Your own jobs never carry a per-job fee.
Taxes
You're responsible for reporting what you earn. If the law requires us to report payments or issue tax forms, we'll tell you what we need.
